District 31 Anne Arundel County
Sign Waving
Glen Burnie, Maryland
Today Delegate Don Dwyer, Jr. of Glen Burnie began his over the top sign waving campaign.
It is over the top because he is regularly seen above the car tops as he waves to motorist passing beneath bridges and overpasses
throughout District 31.
In 2002 and most recently 2006, Delegate Dwyer decided to use sign waving after watching the all time champion of sign waving County Executive Leopold for many years. “It was clearly working for Mr. Leopold so I decided to take it to a new level” Dwyer said.
There is no doubt that you will see Delegate Dwyer on the road in the near future if you live in northern Anne Arundel County.

While I feel every candidate has their right to a campaign, I saw the signs and the waving on an overpass to route 100 today and I am concerned. It was causing a distraction to drivers, and people were slowing down for no other reason than to see what was going on. Side road campaigns where cars drive at a lower speed may be fine, but I feel a campaign along route 100 is not approprite for safety reasons.

Carrie,
I appreciate your concern. I can tell you, however, that I have stood on the bridges more than any candidate in recent history, and that I have never caused an accident. I have and will continue to wave from the bridges but I thank you for posting your concern. Please continue to drive safely and don’t use a cell phone while driving if at all possible. Remember that in October the use of a cell phone while driving will be illegal in the State of Maryland.
Constitutionally Yours,
Delegate Don Dwyer

You are a hazard to drivers on MD Route 100 by standing on the bridge waving your arms as if you are in distress. As a lawmaker(??),you should be more concerned with the welfare and safety of your constiuents. You fail to realize that drivers are distracted by any type of unusual activity. As I remember from the last election, your brother in law was admonished by the police for such activity on Route 50. No matter how you try to defend this callous self edificing promotion; it is inherently dangerous to all drivers. It matters not whether an accident has occurred or not. I also take umbrige with your unsuccessful legislative record during the past 8 years in office. Zero productivity does not speak well for a representative of our District!! I will work very hard for your opponents to unseat you. Also how dare you cast negsativity against James Braswell for supporting a friend during the last election. Friendship is a true blessing from above.

2) MD Courts have upheld anybodys right to free speech and that includes sign waving.

I strongly disagree with those who appreciate your waving from the Route 100 overpass.
I personally find such conduct to be absolutely insulting to my intelligence and it makes the statement that politics makes for strange conduct.
