District 31 Anne Arundel County
Health Care Freedom Act
Yesterday, I requested an emergency bill entitled Maryland Health Freedom Act. I am extremely concerned about the massive, intrusive, and expensive and UNCONSTITUTIONAL health care bill that Democrats on the Federal level are still trying to jam down America’s throat. I have watched along with many of you, the town hall meetings packed with citizens shouting to be heard while arrogant elected officials talk on their cell phones and insult their intelligence. A few days ago, Nancy Pelosi said, “we need to pass this bill so we can find out whats in it.” Are you kidding me? This is unacceptable and the people of Maryland deserve better. More to come on this.

Thank you for looking out for us.

I ditto that thank you. However I am very concerned because I contacted my State Senators office just yesterday about Exerting our States rights to stop the Federal Health Care and I was told that the Chairman of the committee said they were not going to discuss it this year. Is there a way to make them?

I keep reminding myself that God is in control, and that He is bigger then they think they are. It makes me sick with how they think they are so un-touchable. Everyone will answer to God.

I live in your district and my 7-year old has a pre-existing condition – a rare blood disorder – and we can’t get covered. I’m appalled that you want to treat this bill in an extreme, lock stock and barrel way and not try and assess the good and the bad.
Your use of that Pelosi quote is disingenuous too – for all the hubub over rushing the bill, they voted on a bill last month that was on paper and there to read since December. Any one of us could have read it. I’m opposed to lots of it, but you’re demagoguing versus responding to it maturely. I’m a Republican and I’ve voted for you three times, but I can’t support someone again who wants to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Do you support a ban on denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions?

Please understand that the bill is 2600 pages of legalease that no one really understands. We know that very few legislators read the text of the bill and we know that there are SERIOUS CONSTITUTIONAL PROBLEMS with the legislation. I have not and will not suppoprt unconstitutional legislation.
Regarding pre existing conditions specifically, I do believe that the law needs to be revised. After all, you are willing to pay for it right? As I understand it, the federal legislation was signed into law. In the end I support your ability to have your sons condition covered. I am also sincerely sorry that you are in this situation.
My bill is not likely to be voted on.
Constitutionally yours,
Del. Don Dwyer, Jr.

Let’s not forget that the bill also includes items like the federal government taking over student debts- what’s this have to do with coverage?
Also- we do know that they are counting on forcing young healthy people into buying health coverage that they are unlikely to need. The paid premiums on these will fund health coverage for people who won’t be expected to pay for it. Where in the constitution does it say I have to buy healthcare, for myself or anyone else?
And another thing- expect to have to fill out a seperate tax item on your 2011 forms to pay taxes on your benefits, after you paid taxes on the money you spent buying those benefits.
I know people have different health coverage needs and real solution need to happen but bankrupting America is not it.

The health care legislation passed by Congress is UNCONSTITUTIONAL period! The federal government does not have to power within the Constitution to force an individual, by their mere existance on this earth to buy a product! I already pay close to 40% of my income to a government that has a serious OUT OF CONTROL spending problem and I can’t imagine adding a monatary value of 10-20 thousand more dollars to my annual income by way of my health benefits to pay for others. That would put our families tax level at close to 50% which is UNACCEPTABLE! Iam not willing to give the government HALF of everything I make. The current government is clearly out of control, has no regard for the Constitution, and the will of it’s people it was elected to represent.

I agree regarding the UNCONSTITUTIONAL issues of the Health Care legislation. I feel it violates Article 1 Section 8, but also Amendments 4,5,9,10,13 & 14. I’m not a politician, but I can read. I question if they can though, since these people don’t bother READING bills before shoving them down the peoples throats AGAINST THEIR WILL.
Since when is buying or not buying anything to include health care a CRIME? Penalties are assessed for CRIMES. CHOOSING NOT to buy something, no matter what it is, is NOT a CRIME. ANY fine or penalty on the right to free choice is EXCESSIVE and ILLEGAL. I can’t go out and FORCE people to buy my services or product and I can not fine them if they don’t. It is their FREE CHOICE (LIBERTY) to chose not to buy my service or product.
IF WE THE PEOPLE have to pay a tax for it, SO DO THE UNIONS! IT’S called EQUAL PROTECTION.
A lot of what was represented to the people was simply not true. Each person who voted for it and made these false statements actually lied. Lying under oath is a Felony. Felony is considered a HIGH CRIME.
Oaths taken by these representative officials are to PRESERVE (not change, keep the same, prevent from degrading) PROTECT (Keep safe from degradation and repugnance) DEFEND (stand beside and behind it to see it is not violated or degraded or misinterpreted from it’s original meaning and statements).
I have done some research ion health care in Maryland and we DO have options for people who are unemployed, underemployed, insured, under-insured, not insured, rich, or poor, with or without pre-existing conditions, etc. It covers families with children sand even single adults and adults without children, and YES, even Illegal Aliens and/or their children can get it.
WE DO NOT NEED GOVERNMENT TAKE-OVER of the HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY in an attempt to Nationalize our REPUBLIC. And I agree, what do Student loans have to do with Health Care???
If people like socialization and want a socialized nation and socialized medicine, might I suggest they move to one of the many other countries that have socialization. WE here in AMERICA want OUR freedoms and rights GIVEN to us by GOD, NOT the Government in OUR REPUBLIC.
While I agree there needs to be some changes in the Health care system, but THIS DEBACLE IS NOT IT!
EXERT STATES RIGHTS NOW!
Oh BTW, the same applies to CAP & TAX. WE ALREADY HAVE IT IN MARYLAND per my US Congressman.

This bill will provide health care to millions of Americans who are currently uninsured. Health care is a civil right, not a privilege. How would you feel if you were to get ill only to find that your health insurance did not cover you, racking up tens of thousands in hospital fees to be paid by you and you only. Health care reform is needed. The bill will likely have to be amended and changed, but it’s a step in the right direction.
Also, to the person talking about God, don’t you think he would be in favor of extending health care to all, so everyone could live their lives full of love and happiness without having to worry about their health insurance company ripping them off?
